Allison may find a new home soon

Unrestricted Free Agent Jason Allison has yet to find a home for the 2006-2007 season but his wait may soon be over.

Allison, who has recieved minor interest from teams since the free agent market opened, may decide upon a deal with either the Ottawa Senators or the Tampa Bay Lightning.

With the recent injury to Sens’ Mike Fisher, who will miss 4-6 weeks, the club is looking for a replacement. A source indicates the team has inquired about Allison, but Ottawa has also been listening to offers from other teams around the League. Sportsnet reports one of those teams may be the slumping Coyotes, who has almost every player on the club available.

The Tampa Bay Lightning has also inquired about Allison, but if any sort of deal were to take place they would be making a trade first. Allison would likely only take around $800 000 on a one year contract plus incentives, making it affordable for both teams.

Allisons effictiveness on the powerplay, especially with the Leafs last season, would really help out both of these struggling teams. Tampa Bay and Ottawa were both in the playoffs last season and played each other in the first round (Sens were 1st overall, while the Bolts were 8th). But now they both find themselves out of a playoff spot.
