Sabres News and Notes

November 30, 2006

The Buffalo Sabres returned to practice today after a much deserved two day break. The Sabres had played 10 games in 17 nights and many players were in need of a rest. It also gave time for a couple of players to get ready for their returns from injuries.

Around The Boards

November 30, 2006

Around the Boards returns after a one week hiatus while I tried to get some schoolwork done. Finals are starting next week, so its that time of year when my brain is fried. On the docket tonight is the firing of Trent Yawney, a possible new home for Markus Naslund and the voting situation for the all-star game.

Tuesdays NHL Roundup Delayed

Unfortunately due to maintenance on WordPress, tonights NHL Roundup will be delayed for an unknown amount of time. Hopefully we can fit in the post later on tonight, but if not you can expect the long update that’ll be worth your while tomorrow.

Update

November 29, 2006

Once again I appologise for the lack of updates over the past week or so, things have been very busy lately but expect them to pick up soon. But thanks to most of the other members, this site has been continuously updated daily.

First off, Many people have asked about the status of the new site. Yes we are planning on moving to nhlline.ca, but it is still currently under construction. This is still just a temporary weblog but expect the actual site to be a lot better, but similar in ways than the current one. TNL’s website is expected to be up and running some time in December.

If there are any more questions you have to ask, please post them in the comment section of this post. Thanks.

Also: Check back later tonight for an update around the NHL. In tonights roundup we will also feature our own player of the month, along with the three-stars of November. I will also be naming Novembers “Writer of the month” so stay tuned. Their may be a slight delay in the post due to maintenance later on tonight.

Sabres 1st Quarter Analysis

November 28, 2006

The NHL season is a quarter of the way over, and the Buffalo Sabres stand at the top of the NHL mountain. Their 19-3-2 record puts them tied for the league lead in points with Anahiem, and at the top of the Eastern Conference, eight points ahead of the Atlanta Thrashers. With 24 games in the books, (I know, just over a quarter) we look at what has happened.

Devils Try to Snap Slide Tonight

November 28, 2006

The Devils are looking to avoid their fourth straight regulation loss tonight @ 10:00 against the Los Angeles Kings (8-13-4). The Devils haven’t lost 4 straight in the regular season since 2001, truly a great run. Even during the little slide, the Devils are playing pretty good hockey. They are still 6-4-0 in their past ten games. If the Devils win tonight, they will be guaranteed a record over .500 for the month of November. Marty will need some offensive support if the Devils want to win this game. This Saturday he stopped 25 of the 26 shots faced in a 2-0 loss to San Jose. The Sharks added an empty netter to round things off. It starts with the powerplay where the Devils have been 1-for-19 so far on this trip. On the Kings side of things, Garon has been playing much better than Cloutier, especially lately, and rumour has it that Cloutier and his $6.2 M contract aren’t sitting too well with the team. Look for Garon to get the start. Should be a good game, check it out if you can.

Blackhawks fire Yawney

November 27, 2006

A slow start has cost another NHL coach his job.

TSN.Ca is reporting the Blackhawks have fired Head Coach Trent Yawney and replaced him with former Blackhawk legend and current assistant coach Denis Savard. Injuries and a porous offense have led the Blackhawks to a bad start of the regular season. Martin Havlat and Nikolai Khabibulin have both missed significant time with injuries and Michael Handzus was lost for the season earlier this year with a knee injury.
