Leafs edge Thrashers 4-2

October 31, 2006

This is the first time this season the Toronto Maple Leafs have won consecutive games. Saturday night the Leafs took it to the Habs, winning the game in a shootout 5-4, and tonight the Leafs were able to continue their great success against the Thrashers as they clinged to a 4-2 victory.

Cullimore to Flyers?

According to a source, the Philadelphia Flyers have been in talks with the Chicago Blackhawks about defenceman Jassen Cullimore. Apparently the Blackhawks have already offered the Flyers Cullimore for an unknown player. Recent reports suggest that the trade may see winger Mike Knuble involved.


Leafs Harrison a No-go for Tonight’s Game

According to a report on sportsnet the Leafs young defenceman, Jay Harrison, will not be in the lineup tonight due to a minor hand injury. The Leafs lineup for tonights game looks to be as follows:

Staal To Stay

The Pittsburgh Penguins have officially told Jordan Staal he will be staying in the National Hockey League this season.  Staal is off to a great start with 4 goals, 3 of which are shorthanded and an assist.  Also, Kristopher Letang was told he would be returning to Val’Dor of the QMJHL.


Knuble out two weeks

Philadelphia Flyers winger Mike Knuble will be sidelined for two weeks with a fractured middle finger on his left hand. Knuble had successful surgery on his finger Sunday in Baltimore, Maryland performed by Dr. Thomas Graham. He injured his finger in Saturday’s loss vs. the Penguins.

Speculation points towards Phantoms winger and Philadelphia native, Tony Voce, being called up to the Flyers.


Ott sidelined with fractured ankle

Dallas Stars centre Steve Ott will be sidelined for the next two months with a fractured ankle that will require surgery on Monday. Ott suffered the injury against the Los Angeles Kings when he was involved in a fight with defenceman Tom Kostopoulos. He seemed to have fell awkwardly when he was hit by the Kings blueliner.


Kubina Close to Returning

According to the Toronto Sun, Pavel Kubina will be ready to skate with the team in 4-5 days. We should expect Kubina back in the lineup by mid-November at the latest. This will be a relief to many Leaf fans. The Leafs defence have allowed 33 goals in their last 7 games. The Leafs play Monday night against Atlanta.


Sabres Week In Review
